Golf Course Superintendent – Ridder Farm Golf Course

Ridder Farm Golf Course is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead the maintenance and enhancement of our 18-hole facility.

Position Highlights:

The golf course superintendent will be a critical part of the management team involved in not only golf course maintenance but also providing the quality conditions for the entire facility.  The departing superintendent has been in the current role for 20 years.  Ridder Farm Golf Course is committed to providing the superintendent with the proper support to progress in their career and succeed in the position.           

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent, quality golf course playing conditions.
  •  Collaborate in the recruitment and selection of competent and unified staff.
  • The capability to effectively train and manage a maintenance team of 20 in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Develop and implement an agronomic program to provide quality conditions. These programs will encompass the golf course, function facility grounds, adjacent residences and driving range.
  • Maintenance and operation of pump stations and irrigation systems to provide optimum playing conditions.
  • Snow removal and ice management operations.

Experience Required:

  • Knowledge in maintaining quality golf course conditions in a busy golf environment.
  • Proficient in irrigation repair, scheduling and auditing. Rainbird central control experience desired.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to hire, train and retain staff. Pleasant and collaborative qualities desired.
  • Knowledge in developing a plant protection, fertility and nutrient program.
  • Experience with bunker and tee renovations. Ability to facilitate projects using sub-contractors or performing in-house.
  • Experienced in the use of front-end loaders, excavators and skid steers.
  • Capability to lead an equipment maintenance and repair program.
  • Knowledge of the rules and the traditions of the game of golf.

Qualifications:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience as a golf course superintendent or assistant golf course superintendent.
  • A degree or certificate in turfgrass management or related field.
  • MA Pesticide license Category 37.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Hoisting engineer license or ability to acquire one within 1 year.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range $90,000-$120,000.
  • Health insurance stipend available.
  • Expenses paid for maintaining a hoisting engineer and category 37 pesticide licenses.
  • Dues paid for local and national superintendent associations.
  • Expenses paid for attendance of regional education seminars and NERTF conference.
  • Company cell phone plan available.                                                                                

About Ridder Farm Golf Course – Located in Plymouth County Massachusetts, Ridder Farm Golf Course was founded in 1959 and is an 18-hole daily fee facility. The front nine was designed by Henry Holhman. The renovation of the front nine and completion of the back nine was designed by Geoffrey Cornish in 1964. The property also consists of a driving range, function facility restaurant and multiple residences.
