    Job Description:
    Salary: $47,154 - $48,922

    Performs contour lawn mowing of tees, greens, fairways, and roughs using rotary, hydraulic, and triplex machines; cuts and trims hedges and shrubs; applied fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides, pesticides, limestone, and other chemicals; trims around fences, trees, and other areas; spreads loam.  Performs general maintenance on golf carts, including changing fluids, greasing, and checking tires and batteries; maintains mowers and cutting units.  Uses chain saw to cut wood; performs building maintenance duties for golf course buildings.  Keeps records of daily receipts and enters information into computer system; makes deposits; may order supplies.  Operates computerized automatic irrigation system.  Performs similar or related duties as required, or as situation dictates.

    Works under the direct supervision of the General Foreman; follows an established schedule to complete assigned tasks. 

    Work is performed outside with exposure to constant loud noise and potential exposure to mowers and equipment with moving mechanical parts; outdoor work may be performed in adverse weather conditions with exposure to hazards associated with the use of equipment.  Some repair work is performed in shop conditions.  Workload is subject to seasonal fluctuations.  Operates hand and power tools, light trucks, and light and heavy equipment, such as front-end loaders, hydraulic motors, and chain saws.  Generally has contact with other employees and incidental contact with users of the golf course.  Errors could result in personal injury and damage to the grass and equipment.


    Education and Experience: High school diploma required; three years of landscaping experience and turf management experience desirable; experience with maintaining and repairing small engines and related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License and Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator's License Preferred.

    Knowledge of techniques of turf care and the operation of mowers and related landscaping equipment; knowledge of safety practices and procedure; some knowledge of golf.  Ability to perform landscaping work; ability to maintain and repair small engines; ability to use power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment.  Landscaping and maintenance skills; skill in operation of equipment and tools.

    Most work is performed outside and requires strenuous physical effort; some work is performed in shop conditions.  Strenuous physical effort is generally required to perform duties.  Frequently required to use hands to operate equipment, walk, stand, sit, speak, hear, reach with hands and arms, balance, crouch, crawl, stoop, and climb.  Stamina is required to work in adverse weather conditions.  Required to lift or move items weighing up to sixty pounds.  Physical ability to use power and hand tools, drive motor vehicles, and operate and drive various pieces of special maintenance equipment.  Vision requirements include the ability to read routine documents and operate vehicles and equipment

    Daily operations consist of working at various sports complexes and golf courses throughout New England. The position consists of loading and unloading specialized equipment, light to medium hand work laboring, operating various specialized equipment, driving a truck and trailer combination, managing projects, communicating well with clients and staff.

    Preferred Experience:

    Essential Functions:
    The Town of Yarmouth is searching for a Golf Course Technician III to join their Golf Division team!

    Working under the general/direct supervision of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, job duties include but not limited to chemical applications, irrigation monitoring and repair, mowing, watering and some heavy equipment operation.

    Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
    High school diploma or equivalency required. Two years of increasingly responsible experience in golf course maintenance and operating a variety of landscaping and turf equipment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Physical requirements: 
    Ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions for long periods of time.  Ability to drive turf equipment for long periods of time during all types of weather conditions.  Incumbent is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear.  The incumbent must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to conduct visual inspections while working in field.

    Special Requirements: 

    • MA Hoisting license grade 2B
    • MA Pesticide Applicator license
    • MA Class D Driver's License

    Pinehills Golf Club is 36-hole facility with a Rees Jones course and a Nicklaus design course.  We are located in Plymouth, MA, 45 minutes from Boston and 10 minutes from Cape Cod.  We are planning a bunker renovation on the Nicklaus course in the Fall of 2020.

    Educational Requirements:

    • 2 or 4 year degree in turf or related field

    Experience Requirements:

    • 3 to 5 years on a golf course preferably in an assistant position

    Special Requirements:

    • Motivated individual willing to lead a large crew to perform at a high level
    •  Knowledge of all irrigation tasks is a must
    • Chemical and fertilizer calibration and application a plus.

    WAVERLY OAKS GOLF CLUB, Plymouth, MA is a championship daily-fee facility designed by Brian Silva in 1998. The greens, tees and fairways are predominantly a bent/poa mix with RainBird irrigation.  WOGC is seeking a responsible individual with hands on experience in the daily duties of golf course maintenance and requires having the fundamental knowledge of construction, establishment and maintenance practices employed on golf courses including: fertilizers; pesticides; irrigation; equipment maintenance, repair and operation; cultural practices; landscaping and other associated tasks.

    QUALIFICATIONS:    The preferred applicant should possess a minimum two-year turf management degree, experience managing crew members, a Mass Pesticide License, Mass Hoisting License and a strong work ethic.

    Description:   Pine Brook C.C is a private club located in Weston located about 15 minutes from Boston.  Originally built in 1924 by Wayne Stiles with updated changes by Ron Forse.  The club is halfway through a master plan with the goal to finish in the next couple of years.  

    Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000, paid vacation, 401K match, 75%-25% health (Blue Cross/Blue Shield), dental, attendance regional conference, local seminars, uniforms, lunches (in season), golf privileges

    Duties:   This position will work with the other assistants in all facets of maintenance including course setup, hand watering, pesticide/fertilizer applications, small irrigation repair, snow removal and pest and disease scouting.  All the while maintaining a healthy work/lifestyle.
