    The Brookside Club a year-round, daily fee, public golf course located in Bourne, Massachusetts.

    We are currently looking for an individual with experience to maintain turf equipment, field work may also be needed from time to time.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS: The preferred applicant should have some experience in engine and turf equipment repair, along with experience in reel and bedknife grinding. Maintaining a clean, safe, well organized shop is a must.
     
    SALARY: Based on experience
     
    BENEFITS: Health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, bonus, uniforms and seminars will be available to the preferred applicant after a grace period.

    Facility Name:  Sharon Country Club

    Facility Location:  Sharon, Massachusetts

    Position / Title:  Assistant Superintendent

    Facility Description: Ten Hole Private, with driving range, chipping area

    Experience Desired: Two years working on a golf maintenance staff


    Duties Description:
    The assistant golf course superintendent reports directly to the golf course superintendent. Under the superintendent’s supervision the assistant superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course. Supervises and assist in the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. The assistant superintendent may serve in the superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence.

    Typical Functions:
    Assists in the planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and other landscape areas. Schedule’s work supervises the employees, and the use of equipment.

    Instructs equipment operators on the operation, care of mowing.

    Applies pesticides, fertilizers and takes care of sprayer to ensure proper application of pesticides and fertilizers and keeps accurate records.

    Participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation system, and drainage systems. Able to repair Toro 670, 730, and 800 series sprinklers.

    Assists in personal management and evaluation, employee safety, discipline and may also modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.

    Employment Standards:
    Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls. Ability to schedule, supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee and public relations.

    Projects:

    A new Toro Lynx Central control system will be installed spring of 2022.

    Currently in the design phase of a new third green complex, and renovation of the second green.

    Special Skills:

    • Possession of a valid driver's license.
    • Required to have a current Massachusetts pesticide applicator license.
    • Experience with Toro 670, and 800 series sprinkler heads, Toro Lynx Central.

    Compensation / Benefits:

    $26 per hour plus over time, 25% employee/75% employer health insurance, 401k, golfing privileges, dues for local & national associations

    Education Level Required:  Minimum Turf Certificate.
