    Eastward Ho! is a private, nationally ranked 18-hole Herbert Fowler design located on the coastline of Cape Cod in Chatham, Massachusetts.     The Second Assistant is a key position that works closely with the Superintendent and has active involvement in all aspects of turf maintenance.  The position requires a professionally driven individual who operates with the highest expectations and efficiencies. Strong organizational skills and experience with administrative tasks and responsibilities are required. The Assistant must be capable of leading a seasoned crew through projects, applications, and daily operations. The successful candidate will be an individual who understands the requirements and demands of turf maintenance at a high-level private facility and who knows what it takes to be the best.

    The Assistant Superintendent assist in the daily maintenance and grounds management of the International Tennis Hall of Fame Campus. The Assistant Superintendent will help manage and hire seasonal staff.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    • Assist Superintendent in all phases of the Grounds Maintenance, Agronomic Operations, budget management and personnel.
    • Assist in the care and maintenance of the grounds, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees on the facility grounds.
    • Assist in the recruitment and supervision grounds staff.

    Assistant Club Superintendent
    Job Description

    The Assistant Club Superintendent reports directly to the Club Superintendent. Under the superintendent's supervision, the Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the Superintendent's capacity during his/her absence. Assist in maintaining a championship 18-hole golf course and overall grounds maintenance for a 130-acre property.     WAVERLY OAKS GOLF CLUB, Plymouth, MA is a championship daily-fee facility designed by Brian Silva in 1998. The greens, tees and fairways are predominantly a bent/poa mix with RainBird irrigation. 

    WOGC is seeking a responsible, ambitious individual to join the maintenance crew team.  Under the supervision of the Superintendent and Assistant, the 2nd Assistant shall assist with conducting the daily operations of the maintenance program.   Responsibilities would include but not limited to all aspects of maintaining the golf course, clubhouse grounds and associated properties, course set-up, irrigation repair and installation, pesticide/fertilizer applications, routine equipment maintenance and snow removal.

    QUALIFICATIONS:    A turf management degree or certificate.  Two years prior golf course or turf grass maintenance experience.  MA pesticide licensed preferred.

    General Manager Job Description

    Position Overview: The General Manager is hired by the Board of Governors, reports to the Board President and is responsible for carrying out the Club’s policies, procedures, and directives.

    The General Manager is accountable for the financial performance and all areas of operations for the Club, and daily, directly manages all staff, operations, and departments to ensure the synergism of all Club activities. The General Manager is the Board’s bridge to the staff, the Club’s membership, and committees, enabling the Board to work more exclusively on strategic planning and long-term focus of Club governance.

    Operational Responsibilities

    • The General Manager will provide day to day overall management of the Club, be readily accessible, and provide open lines of communication with our membership and assist our staff in the operation of the Club’s activities.
    • The General Manager will oversee the management of the following departments:
    • Golf Operations lead by the Club Golf Professional who will manage the Pro Shop,Golf tournaments, lessons, and activities, and staff

    • The GM is responsible for the development and implementation of all service/operating standards training

    Personnel Management

    • The General Manager has hire and discharge authority of club personnel except for the Course Superintendent and Head Golf Professional. These hire and discharge decisions require Board’s approval.
    • The General Manager will develop, maintain, and disseminate a fundamental management philosophy that recognizes our staff is a key part of our competitive advantage.
    • The GM will help design programs intended to motivate and improve the performance of staff members. These programs and initiatives should consider the needs of members and staff.
    • The primary task of the General Manager is to ensure that direct report’s goals and objectives are defined, understood, evaluated, and enhanced on a continual basis.
    • The General Manager will refine and monitor basic personnel policies consistent with the Board’s desire to always treat employees fairly, and to be compliant with applicable laws and regulations.


    • The General Manager is responsible for providing energized, motivated leadership for department managers and staff. He/she is innovative and accepts responsibility for the Club’s performances in all areas. Additionally, her/she shall provide consistency and continuity for the Club and shall exhibit strong executive leadership to all areas of the operations, including the Board and Committees.     About Cape Cod National Golf Club
    Cape Cod National Golf Club (CCN) is an 18-hole championship golf course located in Brewster, Massachusetts. Founded by John & Linda Pfeffer, Cape Cod National opened its doors in 1998. Our Brian Silva designed layout has received numerous accolades over the years and is regularly recognized in state and national rankings. We are golf only facility. Privately owned and managed the club with 250 members and a significant waiting list. Member satisfaction is high, with nearly no resignations in the past two years.

    Our Greens are constructed to USGA specifications and planted with L-93.
    Currently, we are in the process of applying Poacure to eliminate Annual Bluegrass from our putting surfaces. Over the past few years, our greens have been aggressively over-seeded with new varieties of bentgrass further improve playability. The Tee Boxes and Fairways are a mix of creeping bentgrass, colonial bentgrass, and chewings fescue.

    Constant improvement is a cornerstone of our culture at Cape Cod National. This past fall we completed several projects such as rebuilding the driving range tee, expanding our short game area, re-facing several bunkers, and enhancing cart path access. Over the years the club has invested heavily in maintenance equipment to ensure that we have the resources we need to provide the playing conditions the members expect. Our last three Lead Assistants moved on to Head Superintendent Positions with the most recent one securing a head position in the spring of 2020.

    Job Summary:
    We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Superintendent who is looking to take the next step in their career with the ultimate goal of becoming a Head Superintendent. We are looking for someone to work side by side with our crew of 25 employees to help provide our members with the best playing conditions possible.     • Assist and supervise safe tree management practices i.e. removals, pruning, and tree health applications.
    • Must be able to safely operate equipment relate to in house golf course improvement projects
    • Involved in budget development and implementation  


    • Certificate, 2 or 4-year degree in turf or related focus.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a 2nd assistant or AIT at a similar level club
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • A passion for the game of golf including the desire to play and a general understanding of the rules.
