    Your Impact

    The Agresource Assistant Operations Manager will gain direct working experience with multiple departments within Agresource from operations, sales, logistics, mechanics, trucking and back office. You will work directly with the Operations Manager in a support role to increase the company’s workflow of the operations department. This position will have regional travel expected between two full time Agresource job sites (Ipswich, MA and Middleboro, MA) with potential road work and growth of new facilities in the region.

    Facility Name:    The Cape Club

    Facility Location:  125 Falmouth Woods Rd., East Falmouth, MA 02536

    Position / Title:  Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

    Facility Description:  The Cape Club is a 120-acre property, with a challenging, yet fair 18-hole championship golf club, driving range, and restaurant.  We have California-style A1/A4 bentgrass greens, fine fescue/bentgrass fairways, and fescue/rye/blue tees and rough. We are open to the public, and also have ~170 members who enjoy preferred tee times. The Cape Club is also home to 28 single-family residences (currently under construction.)

    Experience Desired:  The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years’ experience as a first or second assistant, preferably at a high-end private or semi-private club.

    Duties Description:  The assistant superintendent’s responsibilities include: training and supervision of maintenance employees; irrigation system maintenance and scheduling; pesticide and fertilizer applications; supervising the daily maintenance activities on both the golf course, and at the residences; record keeping; and snow removal.

    Special Skills:  The assistant superintendent must have either a MA pesticide applicator’s license or certification (Cat 37), or be willing and able to obtain such within 30 days. Also required is a MA Hoisting Engineer’s license, categories 1C & 2A, or the willingness and ability to obtain within 90 days.

    Compensation / Benefits:  $55K - $65K annual salary (DOE and education); health insurance; uniforms; meals (in-season); fuel allowance; pesticide and hoisting license renewal costs; and golf privileges.

    Education Level Required:  Minimum of Turfgrass Certificate; 2- or 4-year degree preferred.

    Facility Name: Presidents Golf Course at the Wollaston Recreational Facility

    Facility Location: 357 West Squantum Street North Quincy, MA 02171

    Position / Title: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

    Facility Description: Eighteen-hole Fazio design opened in 1977 operated by The County of Norfolk

    Experience Desired: A minimum of two years golf course experience.

    Duties Description: Principal responsibilities include directing and participating in the maintenance operations of the facility, directs maintenance personnel, and performs any duties necessary as assistant to the department head.

    Duties include assigning daily work schedule and secondary tasks of the golf course maintenance, and support golf course personnel. Will assist the Director in planning and scheduling maintenance activities. Supervises and participates in the application of pesticides, fertilizers and other materials necessary in maintaining the golf course in keeping with contemporary standards of the industry. Outlines, supervises and participates in equipment maintenance. Responsible for the functioning of the irrigation system effecting necessary repairs during the season and sprinkler maintenance. Implements employee training in the proper care and use of the golf course maintenance equipment.

    Position reports to the Golf Course Director and to to the County Director or the County Commissioners. Will be in charge of the Wollaston Recreational Facility in the Director’s absence.

    Compensation / Benefits: Starting salary$64,905.00 with overtime and competitive benefits.

    Education Level Required: An Associate’s degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred. MA Pesticide license and drivers license required.

    About Thorny Lea Golf Club:
    Thorny Lea Golf Club is a Wayne Stiles/John Van Kleek design established in 1900 but the current design is from 1925. A parkland style golf course situated in the city of Brockton, Thorny Lea is a hidden gem. Touted as having one of the best golfing memberships in the state; the club has many past state tournament winners along with a past women's mid-amateur champion and a men's mid-amateur champion.

    Job Description:
    The successful candidate can expect to work closely to the superintendent and other assistant to achieve the goals set for that day. In the event the superintendent is away from the property, the assistant will take control. This is not only a supervisory role since we are a smaller operation. The assistant will be expected to be able to manage the crew while performing other duties such as course set up, water management (hand watering) or product application.

    Extended hours can be expected during the growing season (April - October), and a more flexible, relaxed work schedule during the winter months.

    A master plan was completed for the course in 2015 with Ian Andrew and we are implementing changes over the coming years.  A new irrigation system was installed and finished in 2020.  The club is in the process of approving a bunker renovation for fall of 2021.
