    Met Links description:

    Met Links is a new 9-hole Public Golf Course (opened in June 2024) using a portion of the property that was the private Metacomet Country Club.  The original Donald Ross design features were utilized and enhanced by Golf Course Architect Robert McNeil and NMP Golf Construction. Several original front 9 holes were renovated with 3 new routed holes and 2 new greens created. All tees and bunkers are new or renovated and a new RainBird irrigation system was installed.

    Position Summary:

    Working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant in Training will assist with the day-to-day maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and grounds.  The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who is looking to eventually become a Golf Course Superintendent. This candidate should take pride in his/her work ethic and values the importance of being a team player.

    Qualifications:

    - Strong passion for the golf business

    - Exceptional communication

    - Experience in turfgrass industry preferred

    - Degree or Certificate in turf management preferred but not necessary

    Responsibilities:

    - Daily mowing of all playing surfaces

    - Fertilizer and chemical applications

    - Course set up

    - Cultural practices (Aeration, Verticutting, Topdressing, etc.)

    - Irrigation operation and maintenance

    - Communicate well with staff

    Salary

    $22/hr + commensurate with experience

    Warwick Country Club is a private 1924 Donald Ross gem located on Greenwich Bay. Warwick is ranked the 6th best course in the state. The course has recently undergone a greenside bunker renovation, a new irrigation pond with pumphouse, drainage and tree work. In the second half of 2024, the club installed a Rainbird irrigation system.

    Comment:

    This is a good opportunity for the right individual to develop their skills as they pursue their career in golf course management. The position will only be limited by the effort the individual makes.

    Experience:

    The ideal candidate will have 2 years of golf course experience, be able to safely operate equipment, hand water, make fertilizer and chemical applications, perform disease and pest monitoring and identification, troubleshoot and repair irrigation and setup the course for daily play and tournaments.

    Education: 

    2 or 4 year degree in Agronomy or Turf Management is preferred but not required.

    Special Skills:

    Good technical and communication skills along with the ability to manage, motivate and work with an exceptional and diverse group of employees. Must also be able to obtain a RI pesticide applicator’s license. A Valid driver’s license is required.

    Salary and Benefits:

    Commensurate with experience and education. Salary range is $50,000-$60,000 DOE. Health and Dental insurance, vacation, golf, uniforms, meals and dues for local and national associations and meetings.

    The beautiful and historic seaside community of Round Hill in South Dartmouth, MA, boasts a challenging 9-hole golf course, with 5 sets of tees, that stretches to 3200+ yards with a slope and rating of 35.7/125. Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, the course includes a varying hole layout, magnificent ocean views, and a signature island green. While operations are year-round, play is mostly seasonal and is exclusively for residents, a limited number of members, and accompanied guests.

    The ideal candidate for the Mechanic/Assistant Superintendent role would have experience and strong knowledge of turf equipment repair and maintenance, as well as experience performing regular golf course maintenance duties. Consideration could be made for a strong mechanic looking to take on more of an Equipment Manager role.

    This position reports to the Golf Course Superintendent and serves as the lead staff member in the oversight, maintenance, and repair of golf maintenance equipment, and assists the Golf Course Superintendent in the overall management of the golf course, facilities, staff and operations as needed. This position requires a minimum of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with weekend work required in-season. Selected candidates must successfully pass a full background check to gain employment.

    Qualifications

    Required: 

    • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation                                         -Minimum High School diploma or GED/Equivalent
    • Experience in the maintenance and repair of golf equipment
    • Ability to operate golf course equipment in the field with experience in golf course maintenance.

    Preferred:           

    • A degree, certificate, or coursework in Mechanical Training or Turf Management
    • MA State Pesticide Applicators License (or ability to obtain one within 90 days).
    • MA State Hoisting License
    • Member GCSAA                          

    Job Tasks/Duties

    • Supervises all equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance; communicates any large-impact items to the Superintendent in a timely manner.
    • Maintains accurate work records for all ordering, inventory, maintenance, and repairs. 
    • Ensures that chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations; maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products when possible.
    • Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients to maintain/improve golf course quality and prevent disease.
    • Helps to maintain the golf course in proper playing condition.
    • Assists in the repair of irrigation lines, heads, or valves and performs necessary repairs as needed.
    • Additional tasks assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.

    Compensation

    • Salary based on a 40-hour hourly rate of $25 - $27.50, DOE

    Crosswinds Golf Club, located in Plymouth, MA is seeking an Assistant Superintendent. The right candidate will be working alongside and directly under the Superintendent. The candidate needs to be a self-starter and motivated individual to work at the highest standards.

    Crosswinds Golf Club is a 27-hole public, privately owned golf course, designed by Hurdzen and Fry. The original 18 holes were built in 2002, and the third nine built in 2006. Crosswinds is a large property with huge elevation changes and beautiful views. There are approximately five acres of greens, forty-five acres of fairways, seven acres of tees and about fifty acres of rough. The property consists of a large driving range with both grass and mats for tee boxes and a short game area.

    Job Description

    • The Assistant works directly alongside the Superintendent in all aspects of turf maintenance.
    • Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties.
    • This position requires a professionally driven individual who operates with the highest expectations and efficiency.
    • Strong organizational skills are required as it relates to scheduling, budgeting, record‐keeping, and leadership.
    • Required to lead seasoned crew in projects, applications, and daily operations. 
    • Individual understands and demonstrates the requirements and demands of turf maintenance at a high‐level facility.

    Experience:

    • 2 years of golf course experience
    • Able to maintain and operate equipment safely.
    • Fertilize and chemical applications.

    About PGC:

    The club was founded in 1916, and a 9-hole golf course was constructed. In the early 1920’s Donald Ross was hired to redesign the previous nine holes and add an additional nine holes. The golf club was built on 120 acres of rolling, natural terrain that Ross incorporated into his hole layouts which remains a testament to his vision today. Since becoming a private club in 1989, the course has undergone a total restoration, all in the Ross tradition. Force Design has remained the club's architect since 2001 and will continue with our update to the master plan.

    Details:

    The property consists of an 18-hole golf course, a driving range with artificial mats, and 2 practice green areas. Greens are pushup style with Poa/bent. The Green’s department is responsible for the upkeep of clubhouse grounds. The club has retained Golf Water as our irrigation consultant as we work towards our irrigation upgrades. Rain Bird IC irrigation system will be completed in the Spring of 2025. A New Watertronics pump station will be installed in the Spring of 2025.

    The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the other Assistants and Superintendent on planning and supervising all aspects of maintenance on greens, tees, fairways, rough, native areas, and bunkers. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for fertilizer and chemical applications. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for managing daily crew assignments through a digital job board. Understanding of local Diseases, pests, and weeds that affect poa/bent playing surfaces. Knowledge of water management practices to create firm and fast conditions. Strong organizational skills are required for the position. There will be opportunities to tackle many projects in-house with new capital equipment purchases made by the club.

    Qualifications:

    • Possess an MA Hositing License (2A) or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
