The Mechanic is responsible for the proper function and upkeep of all machinery related to the upkeep of an 18-hole golf course in Falmouth, MA. This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanic who enjoys his/her craft and who is willing to work in an environment that requires an “outside of the box” attitude and a willingness to solve problems as a collective team and willing to work with flexible hours.

Facility Description:
The Cape Club is a recently renovated, privately owned golf course that is currently under construction, building an on-property hotel with plans as a Stay and Play destination, in the near future. 

Experience Desired:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities Description:  Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment, including, diesel, electric and gasoline-powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
2. Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
3. Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
4. Maintains all cutting units precisely every day.
5. Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
6. Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment.
7. Spot-checks equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
8. Oversees the shop area maintenance.
9. Regulates employees' use of equipment in absence of Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, if needed, and performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent.
10. Assists in personnel management and employee safety supervision.
11. May be asked to perform duties on the Golf Course for special occasions, such as golf outings or special tournaments.

Special Skills:  Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
• Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses
• Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repair
• Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession
• Ability to move heavy objects
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment
• Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate measures.

Salary: $60-70,000.  Depending on Experience.
